Top 10 Favorite "Girl Power" Songs

1. "Stupid Girls"- Pink

I always thought this song was terribly condescending because of all the cheap shots Pink took at other celebrities in the music video. I understood the point she was trying to make, but it seemed like she was more concerned with making fun of celebrities than having a pro-woman message.

I think if you're a public figure, you have to learn to deal with criticism, including "cheap shots." You're in the public eye, so you're fair game. And the point of the song was criticizing the sexist paradigm such public figures contribute to, so I don't exactly lose much sleep over their possibly-hurt feelings. This idea that a lot of young women get that "being a girl" means you have to love fashion (nothing wrong with liking fashion, but it's unfair to be told you HAVE to), hate sports (ditto), and when you come of age, be more than willing to show your body off, bugs me a lot more than "cheap shots" at millionaire starlets. Just a little perspective...

Those are fair points, I guess I didn't think of those. I just think that the message of the song might have been buried under the insults, but I guess we'll agree to disagree on this one.
