Well, imagine this, both "Air" and "Keep The Park Clean For The Pigeons" were on 123 Sesame Street today! Now is "Opposites" with Mahna Mahna really that recent?

I didn't start to pay attention to celebrity cameos on the "Street" until 1992.

Did someone say 1989? Oh this is too surreal...anyone who knows me knows Im always talking about how 1989 was the greatest year ever!

*The debut of 16 bit systems like Genesis and Turbo Grafx
*Batman the motion picture
*Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
*the theatrical release of Akira
*The Wizard with Fred Savage
*The debut of Seinfeld on NBC
*The debut of the Simpsons on Fox
*The last great year of the WWF
*Some of the best Nintendo games ever
*the release of NARC, Strider, and Final Fight at the arcades
*and of course the 20th anneversery of Sesame Street!

1989 around the globe was perhaps the most explosive point in history since the 60's. Within one year you had one of the biggest earthquakes in recent American history(The huge San Francisco quake that began the world series), the US invasion of Panama, the crumbling of the Berlin Wall and the fall of the USSR, the Exxon Valdeez spill, the Tienneman Square massacre in China, the end of the Russian/Afghanistan war yet the beginning of al Qaeda, the debut of Pottery Barn, etc.

1989 is also significant, as it marks the last great year of JHC and the Muppets. It is this time period that I wish to go back to for JHC...a time when they were doing some truly envelope pushing programming with the Jim Henson Hour, as well as pioneering their cgi techniques, and new animatronics for films like TMNT.

Is sure is. Northern Calloway's final appearance was in the Birth of Gabriella episode. It was the season closer in May 1989.
When the 1989-1990 season began, Northern Calloway was gone. Hooper's Store had a new owner named Mr. Handford, played by Leonard Jackson until the next season. I don't recall seeing this episode but accoriding to Sesame Street Usenet Archives, Elmo and Gina were reading a postcard he recieved from David in the season premiere. The postcard read that David went to live on his Grandmother's farm. This was also Jim Henson's final season with Sesame Street.
