All right. This is a big one. Not only do we have Hugh Fink, Scott Ganz, and Andrew Samson on the show (3 of the 4 writers of Letters to Santa)...but we have the fourth writer as well: Muppet legend Paul Williams!
Talking with all four of these gentlemen was such a thrill. We talked about the new special, of course, but also got into some other interesting topics. Remember all that talk of a Muppets election special that wound up not airing? Wondering what it was about? You'll hear it here. How did Emmet Otter come to be revived in a live stage show? It's an amazing story. It was so much fun talking with these guys, and putting it all together with scenes and songs from Letters to Santa seemed like a perfect combination.
There'll be a new MuppetCast episode next week, but I'll be out of town, so it will be a little different from the usual. I've never done this before (that I can remember...but then again, I'm getting old), but I thought it would be fun as an after-Christmas special to air an entire out-of-print Sesame album. One of my very favorites: 1975's "Merry Christmas from Sesame Street". There are some beautiful moments on the album, similar in some ways to "Christmas Eve on Sesame Street".
If you're in the US, you can watch Letters to Santa again on Hulu.com. This may work outside the country, but I can't confirm that.
Best wishes for a warm and happy holiday season! I hope you enjoy this episode of The MuppetCast. Let's discuss your thoughts below!
