The MuppetCast - Show #60 - Pinheads

Can you believe it, we've arrived at episode #60! This time around I have a great conversation with John Rick (host of the Disney PinCast) about some of the really cool, and in some cases really rare, Muppet collector pins produced by the Disney company. Can you believe that Disney still cranks out anywhere from 10 to 20 new pins every week, and that means more Muppet pins, too!

Along with John, there's some great audio of the new show Big Bird's Beach Party from Sea World San Diego, thanks to listener Gaston (no one shoots a YouTube video like him!). There's also a little sample of a new CD done by Joey Mazzarino's wife, Kerry Butler.

The MuppetCast Care Package project continues to grow and take shape! I talk about this a little bit on the podcast, and I want to thank everyone who's already on board with me on this.

The deadline for contest entries for the Make Something Cool Contest is June 15. Please email your submissions to contest@muppetcast.com by this date. If you need to use the regular mail system, let me know and I'll be sure and get you a mailing address so your entry can be postmarked by June 15.

I've decided to "tweak" the MuppetCast voicemail line a bit. You'll just have to call the number to see the, um, "difference". I think it's kind of neat, but we'll see what you think! (Voicemail will still operate as normal from 11pm to 9am, but on certain days I'm changing something around).

The Count mentioned that he's had some initial problems listening to this episode using the website. Anyone else encountered any problems? Let me know, thanks!

Hey Steve... Was able to go back and listen to this week's show last night around 11 PM. Thought the audio from Big Bird's Beach Party was interesting and cool and friendly-like. Was hoping you'd mention Oscar's birthday since it was yesterday, but I can certainly understand how you'd prefer to dedicate it in memorium of Harvey Coreman. There's this sketch from a Rodney Dangerfield special I remember having watched once, not sure if Harvey Coreman was the scientific professor or if it was Tim Conway instead. Also, I have to say I was very happy with the conversation about the Muppet pins. Usually, I go to eBay, browsing through the list of either Jessica or Halloween pins, and one of the things that disappoints me no matter which pins they are is the lack of descriptiveness towards the actual image depicted on the pin itself. After this, I might just have to tune in and add John Rick's podcast to my favorites. Was also hoping you'd discuss the little mixup with the newest Rowlf pin, there's a thread here in Muppet Merchandise somewhere.

Other than that, great as usual and I look forward to next week's, maybe you'll get back to JHH then.

I'm planning on doing another JHH episode next week. I was actually planning on it for show #60, but the opportunity with John came up and I didn't want to miss it. Glad you liked it!

Okay, I couldn't do the little voicemail trick that I wanted to do this morning. But it's engaged now, so earlier voicemail callers that might have wondered "what's the deal with the voicemail" could feasibly now call back (until 11pm Eastern nightly) and find out!

Ah ha ha ha Thats a good one! I was kind of scared when I called the voice mail and all I heard was "This is Steve" I thought that it was one of them trick Voicemails, but it wasnt I was talking to Steve Swanson himself! lol good one. We had a nice little chat.

Loved the episode Steve. For me (who is about to be your reporter) the pins were useful as in (*cough* there goes my paycheck *cough*) what to spot and take pictures of while I'm there and report in for MC and Muppetcast.

Ha... Oh Christy. Don't drive yourself nuts trying to get a picture of Sweetums, it ain't happenin'. And get as much coverage as you can, both of Muppets and the rest of WDW. Muppets and their merch and where it's available of course... But we also like trip reports too.

Well I know I can't wait to hear that report sounds like it will be great. I love hearing about WDW because i don't think I will ever have the money to go. Steve didm't you say you where going down there some time this year?
