I thought of an alternate solution to the ending, as opposed to it all being a dream: During the Sesame Street sequence, I could have had Kermit lament to his Sesame Street friends over The Muppet Show being canceled and that he wouldn't be able to be around his Muppet Show friends as often, only for one or more of the Sesame Street Muppets reminding Kermit that they felt the same way when The Muppet Show began, limiting his time spent on Sesame Street, but that they all still got together plenty of times, and that Kermit would still see his other friends often, despite the cancelation of the show.
