There's one thing stated quite a bit in that article on Nicky Holiday that I never quite noticed, and I watched "The Great Muppet Caper" again after reading it, looking for this character trait, and still couldn't find what the article writer was talkign about. I am referrignt o the mention of Nicky's desire for attention, being under Lady Holiday's shadow. As far as I'm concerned, he's just a jewell thief whose sister just happens to have a lot of jewels. I never noticed him wanting to be in teh spotlight.

Hee... What a wonderfully wickedly rotten article that was. :grouchy:

1 Wow Prawny... A Muppeteer interview? Congrats, you're starting to reach MuppetCast level, and that's a good thing.
2 Yeah... Oscar + Grungie. Grouch love. The only other couple I can say exemplified such feelings of grouchy love towards each other were the original villainous versions of Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd from Power Rangers.
3 People may write fanfics shipping Slimey and Sylvia together... But Slimey already has a girlfriend, namely Glo Worm who's a female firefighter worm.
4 The grouches may not have gotten married, but I seem to recall two instances of almost going through with it. One instance must've been contemplated as the character of Martha Sewer, a fellow grouch decorator, was created to be their wedding consultant. The second is a sort of fantasy sequence I kinda recall where Gordon and Susan contemplated what it would be like if Oscar and Grundgetta actually did get married, casting themselves in the roles of the grouches... Sorta like that old sketch where David and María pretend being a two-headed monsterlike being.
5 Pox News? ! ? I would gladly switch to Pox News if my cable provider carried it. Why, I'd tune in to see Papa Spill O'Reilly, Sean Hammedy and Glen Chickenbeak discuss their perceptions of President Barak Opposum's agenda set out to destroy America and Sesame Street. If I actually gave a hoot about that sort of rubbish.

Anyway, I give this article 5 Phooeys.
:grouchy: Phooey, phooey, phooey, phooey, phooey.

I never really thought of Martin Price's secretary as a "sidekick"... I feel like she wasn't aware of his real intentions. But then again, we don't see her long enough... Maybe she was aware, but I'm sure that she was just an honest employee.

Reading the Martin Price article got me thinking of ways he could have been used (and I don't feel like referring to him by his real name):
  • Maybe the cops wouldn't have showed up so soon, and Martin Price made a deal to produce the show, and became a main character in the movie.
  • Or suppose that the Muppets quickly found a legitimate producer shortly after meeting with Mr. Price, and Martin Price eventually got out of jail and decided to sabotage the musical once it became a hit.
  • Or perhaps there could be a sequel to The Muppets Take Manhattan, with Martin getting released from jail and being determiend to produce a new production of Manhattan Melodies.

The possibilities are endless, though I can't think of anymore.

I really like this "It's Not Easy Being Mean" series... I wodner if the Slease Bros. or Huxley will be included.

I had the honor and the pleasure of interviewing one of the great talents in the puppetry world--and a terrific Muppeteer, to boot! Our interview with Pam Arciero, performer of Grundgetta, is now up! Let me know what you think!
I liked the interview. Pam Arciero doesn't get interviewed very often... I wonder if this might have been a first (two firsts in one?).

It was said in the 40th anniversary book that on her first day on the set, they had her perform a female assistant for David, though she didn't say the characters name. It's too bad you didn't ask about any details on this character (unless she talked about her when talking about Between the Lions or her college degree... I didn't pay much attention to thsoe parts). I could have suggested it, but I didn't even think about that until I was halfway through reading the interview.
