It was really controversial in Canada when it happened. Basically the RCMP had no licensing experience, they're busy doing other things like solving crimes and riding around on horses in fancy uniforms so they gave Disney the license, learned from them and then didn't renew the deal when it expired.

So, Disney owns the Look of the RCMP and the RCMP cant use there unifroms without premision?

You know the double-decker buses that used to circle the World Showcase? I met the idiot that got ran over, sued Disney and effectively removed the buses from Epcot. I wanted to smack him...

Just to clarify, Disney no longer controls the merchandising rights to the RCMP image (but they did for about five years). They never "owned" the image, they just acted as a licensing agent for the RCMP.
