As you remember about the limerick skits, they're short animated sketches that taught us letter sounds, but had limericks of any word that begins with each letter. When they were made in the 70's they were silent, until in 1997, they've added music so children can enjoy the music to the skits.
My personal favorite was the 'Z' one for zebu. It was where the zebu was preparing for lunch. He took out an old boot and two socks, so he glued them together between two pieces of bread to make his own sandwich!
