Well my brother used to have one of those head-cap braces that he had to wear twelve hours a day but (and here's where I incur the wrath of all) I never had braces but really wanted them. My dentist said my teeth are near-perfect but near ain't quite there. I never got any though, my Mum wouldn't pay for cosmetic braces, she said I was just being silly.

I've been going through that kind of thing. I've had my braces removed I think a year ago or something like that, and now I'm on a "retainer". I hated the braces! In fact, I hate the whole process! My grandparents made me pay for the braces, and I was like "Why would I want to pay for something I don't want?" I know it's supposed to re-align your teeth so you have a great smile, and I never thought that this would happen to me. I am now a victim of the braces! :frown:

*Walks in holding an "Up With Belts, Down With Braces" placard*

*Realises this thread is just another one of the many that don't discuss trousers*

*Walks out again*

Well, sorry about the braces, my brother (13) just got his braces and he hates them as well. Me on the other hand, now don't hate me, has had straight teeth all my life. Although, this coming week, I'm going to feel "partical" pain to what you have all went through. I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled - all four! ... :zany: I'm going to go crazy! :attitude:

Wow, I seriously wish you LUCK. I don't wanna make you feel bad, but my girlfriend went through that about a month ago and she hated it. Hurt her for about 2 weeks.

I've been through braces twice. The first time when I was 12,railroad tracks & a full mouth retainer. This time around, railroad tracks,a removable retainer(for the top) & an invisible retainer for the bottom.I'm wearing braces for a second time, because all 4 of my wisdom teeth were pulled, creating spaces in between my teeth and made a few teeth crooked. This is my last month with my braces, wasn't too bad this time around.

I has two teeth pulled not long back. It took about five minutes each including numbing and I never felt a thing - I was eating crisps by tea-time but then I have a remarkably high pain threshold.

Oh and over here 'braces' refers to both the kind Americans called braces and the kind you all call retainers. We differentiate by calling the braces 'train-tracks' and the retainers 'tramlines'.

yeah, but the weird thing is, it doesn't hurt until the next day, because right after you wake up, your whole mouth is numb and you can barely talk
