"The Great Santa Claus Switch" should be on DVD

This might sound Somewhat Unlikely, but I wish The JHC or SOFA entertainment would release The Great Santa Claus Switch on DVD!

It's on youtube in six parts, but the quality isn't so hot. This may very well have been from its first (and possibly only) brodcast.

I believe the issue with seeing it on DVD is much the same as other licensing issues. As far as I know, someone in the way of Ed Sullivan's family or company or something owns the special as a whole, yet Disney would own the rights to many of the early characters. Yet at the same time, I don't know the exact details of the JHC to Disney transfer, but I wouldn't be surprised if JHC still owns the rights to some of the characters in the special that were unused otherwise (i.e. Thig).

I definitely agree. I would like to see it released, though with Disney's non-budging on things and the rights issue, it's very unlikely. But it could happen.

I mean, if you had told me back in 2007 that there was going to be a new Muppet movie in 2011, I'd have told you you were nuts, so it just goes to show that with the Muppets, anything can happen.

The Great Santa Claus Switch nearly saw a DVD release back around 2003-2004 after the Ed Sullivan Muppets Magic DVD was released. Hopefully it will happen some day.
