Mel said, "Aw man!" Warner Bros. said "Aw man!" So they show Mel a few episodes of the show and he was like, "Oy vey gevalt!" And then Oscarfan showed up and said, "Wait a minute, that's my line," and then a pig showed up and did some laundry while another dude had a botched eye operation that resulted in him ending up with a thousand eyes...
Ah, so that's where I came from!

I have a special place in my heart for sitcoms made in the year 1965-66, when the networks switched from black and white to color.
When shows remade their opening credits, and the banner "IN COLOR" was a huge selling point.
Gilligan's Island, Beverly Hillbillies, Jeannie, jump in anytime, Snowthy...

AT40 is a radio show, not a television show.

... Bewitched, Petticoat Junction, I Dream of Jeannie, My Three Sons, etc.

And then there were the shows that were never filmed in color, but were colorized in some reruns. Animation is definitely much easier to color than live action, and cartoons almost always look more natural when they do it. A particularly odd looking example for me was the Litttle Rascals shorts.
But, it can be done extremely well. Just look at these amazingly done scenes from The Munsters and The Addams Family:

THE MUNSTERS did a test pilot that was filmed in color, and it looks really good - other than having a different Lily and Eddie:

But there were two reasons why the series proper was filmed in black and white:
1. The producers didn't want to pay the added expense of filming in color.
2. The network felt the characters were too ugly for color anyway.

Ironically, color shows like BATMAN ultimately killed THE MUNSTERS in the ratings anyway.
