Hey Jimmy-Jim-Jimmy-Jim-Jim,

When a character is scheduled to appear on a TV show, who chooses what character appears, Disney or the show they appear on?

Here ya go!

Asking Jim Lewis Some questions

1. From Colbynfriends: If the Muppets were going to act out another famous book, which one would you choose?

Ooh, I don’t know. Robin Hood? I’m not much good about redoing great literature as vehicles for the characters. Either the story overwhelms them, or visa versa. That said, I’ve always thought that the Danny Kaye movie “The Court Jester” is a great inspiration for some future venture. But that’s just me.

2. From Dwayne: On the Muppets take over Today It seemed almost like a mix of The Jim Henson Hour and Muppets Tonight. Was that planed that way, or going into it did you kind of have any idea where you where going with it?

Not planned. Except for Kermit and Piggy, Statler & Waldorf, the other characters were all Whatnots because they were launching the FAO Schwarz Muppet Whatnot Workshop. Yes, it’s true, Bobo is of “Muppets Tonight” vintage, but I see him – like Pepe – as part of the core group now and forever.

3. From Boy the Pizza Boy: Jim, I have a question about The Diva Code... if you can't answer this that's fine but I was just wondering if the format of the book going to be like Before You Leap or like It's Hard Out Here For A Shrimp?

Yup. Pretty much. Some more upfront text about what’s wrong with Frogs, but then her pithy patter on life, love, etc….

.4. From Ignorance: Just a random question I was wondering, do muppets... you know, die?
I'm probably forgetting some really obvious answer but I can't think of it at the moment.

If you’ve ever seen Fozzie tell a joke, you know they die.
Wocka! Wocka!

The real answer: of course not. They live forever.

5. From Frogboy: Hi Jim! I was just wondering if the Diva Code will have photographs of the pig and if so will there be any new ones?

I also wanted to know if you had considered writing a Fozzie Bear joke book. That would be an interesting project!

6. From Oscarfan: Hey Jimmy-Jim-Jimmy-Jim-Jim,

When a character is scheduled to appear on a TV show, who chooses what character appears, Disney or the show they appear on?

Usually a show will make a request. Usually they want Kermit…or Piggy…or both. But that is all depending on what’s happening (e.g. Pepe has a book). If the character (performer) is available, then great. If the show is amenable, another character is suggested. Joy and satisfaction is always the sought-after result. (Some contents may settle during shipping.)

From Cahuenga (New Asker): one question, in which level was Frank 0z involved in muppets tonight as executive consultant? thanks!

He gave comments on the general shape, direction and tone, not specific scripts. At least that’s the way I remember it. But I was so low on the food chain that I could be totally misinformed. I may be unreliable, but I’m honest.

And now some comments:

From Beauregard: One of our local stores has brought various Muppet dvds back for the Christmas Sales, and you'll be proud to here that what was a pile of Muppet Movies, was swiftly divided across the entire Chart dvds section. Like James Bond...I snuck in there and created an entire Muppet section...Shhh!

You are to be lauded. A crate of laud will be sent under separate cover.

From Dwayne: Well i didn't do anything to the display at work, but we put out Muppet Cristmas Carol out for Christmas and two days latter they are all sold out! Now Granted there where only 4 or 5 there, but still! People want the Muppets.

Make that two crates of laud.

Great questions and answers! One thing, though, Dwayne... there doesn't appear to be an answer to Jamie's question. Did Jim skip over it? How odd! :zany:

I'll be back to ask my question later!

I noticed that to, I think the nature of the question may have been something he felt he could not answer. He hasn't said anything to me about it so I really don't know.

I have a question for Jim. Here it is.

I was looking around on the internet and bumped into two shows that air on Comedy Central. One is called "Jim Henson Outtakes" and the other one is "Jim Henson Company Uncensored." Here's the link to where i found them at. They don't have anything on them being they are from the Comedy Central Wiki online.

Comedy Central List of Programs

So do you have any info or idea what these two shows might be about?

Hey Jim!

Perhaps I should re-phrase the question. What I meant was is this book going to be leaning more towards the writing style of Before You Leap (chapters written in a self-help format) or It's Hard Out Here For A Shrimp (little 'nuggets' of wisdom)?

This is a question inspired by Marty (Bill Bubble Guy). First off, do you know about the show Ren and Stimpy? When writing for Pepe and Seymore, did you have them in mind a few times, or any onther duo for that matter?

Pardon me, mister Jim, but a few simple questions I doth haveth for YOU!

FIRST of all, SIR, if you really ARE you! WHAT, mister Jim, is YOUR favorite of the Muppet Christmas specials? Hmm? Hmm? HMM! I SUPPOSE you don't HAVE to include It's a VERY Merry Muppet Christmas Movie if you don't want to--but THAT is up to YOU!

Secondly! Can you tell us IF the Muppets WILL be appearing on any talk shows ANY time soon to promote Letters to Santa? Miss Lylle BRYER suggested they might return to Today while giving an interview on the MuppetCast, but I DON'T know if she was serious.

And LAST. Mister Lewis... What sort of Muppet merchandise you got? Any Palisades figures? Master Replicas photo puppets? Do you now, or have you ever had a WHATNOT? Hmmmmmm?

Thanks Jim! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
