Are you from the U.K., Beauregard? Just asking, nothing wrong with it. But is your copy of The Muppets: A Celebration of 30 Years (I assume you meant that, and not 40) an official release, or a taped-from-TV release that you found in a store? If it's an actual official release, can you tell me if anyhting is cut from the special? If it is official, I'm surprised I haven't found info on it at Muppet Wiki (or the Muppet Central collectables guide).

Oops, sorry. Yeah, I did mean 30 Years. As if there was a 40 Years Celebration...tsk tsk me.

It's an official release in a pink case with the a circle-cut out Kermit on the front, and a Jim henson logo that I don't recognise. The movie does have a rating cirtificate (U, Universal: Sutable for all) and is distributed by Virgin/PVG Limited.

Uncut, this copy even includes announcements of commercial breaks (as in, even though the commercials themselves are cut the Announcer says, "Stay tuned for more Muppets when we'll meet the Sesame Street cast."-ish)

I think it's a very rare find on video.

It's too bad it wasn't released in America. I wonder if the video rights to non-Henson/ non-Sesame Street clips and certain songs in the clips were limited to the UK. The non-Henson/ Non-Sesame clips I'm referring to are clips from the Muppets appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show, The Tonight Show, and other variety show appearances, as well as commercials that the Muppets appear in. If the video could have been released uncut in the US, then it's interesting that Henson thought to get the video rights to use certain clips and music that far back in advance, but didn't get the video rights to use certain music in A MUppet Family Christmas (which was produced at a time when videos were becomming more and more popular). Of course, if released now it would probably be cut. Then again, with various character ownership clip between companies, if released today it might have to be cut. But hopefuly Sesame Workshop would allow for it's characters and clips to be included, and hopefully Henson won't want to teach Disney a lesson for not allowing Kermit to be on the Emmet Otter DVD by refusing to allow Traveling Matt and Sprocket, clips from Fraggle Rock, characters from Emmet Ottewr (I don't know if Henson would care about it including characters it owns in the background, and I don't know if Disney would be aware that they are there), and possibly Sam and Friends characters to be there (I am confused on whether the characters from that show are owned by Henson or Disney, but I've read that the show itself is owned by NBC, which is owned by Universal).

I've got a huuuge collection... I couldn't even begin to list them without taking inventory first. Part of it stems from the fact that all my friends know I'm a Muppet freak and so I get a lot of Muppet birthday and Christmas gifts. It's nice to know they're all looking out for me!

Anyway, the downside to my collection is that I started collecting when I was four years old (I still have the very first Baby Piggy puzzle that started it all!). This was still when the Muppets were uber popular from TMS and right around Jim's death, and as a kid I had all KINDS of cool Muppet stuff. But, as a kid, I played with all my stuff until I wore it out, so now I have little to nothing to show for the awesome vintage collectibles I once owned. :frown:

But, on the other hand, as a kid I didn't really care about collecting, and now I am glad that I got to use and enjoy them. I just wish I still had them now!
