Yesterday my family & I went out to dinner with my best friend & her family for Easter. So we came back to our house for dessert. Around an hour or two later my friend and her sister said they were going to leave because a program they both liked was on TV. It was on one of the main cable channels which I don't have (the channel, that is). So they left!! I was really angry last night, but I didn't tell her.I'm still ticked off.
She and I have been really good friends since high school. So I don't want to get into a fight with her about this & ruin a good friendship. Do you all think what she did was right?

I think that she should have stayed. She probably could have set her VCR to record the show.

I have read your post very carefully Kathy and I think that your friend and her sister probably felt that they weren't being rude to you because they did spend a lot of time with you on the whole. They spent an hour or two at your home after the time spent at the place where you went out to dine for Easter so you must have been together for nearly 4 hours maybe approximately.

But I know how you feel. It must have seemed rude to you especially because it was Easter and that always makes the occasion seem specially important. I'm sure they didn't realize how they hurt you I'd hope they wouldn't have wanted to see the show so badly if it had been your birthday or Christmas. People seem prepared to make sacrifices more so readily at those times Easter sadly seems to be watered down in importance in some ways.

But sometimes people really do have a hard time giving up shows they like I know from experience how subtily addictive they can be. Maybe if they'd thought of it they could have at least invited you to come to their place to watch it with them.

But remember we human beings are not perfect and all of us have unknowingly offended somebody else in the past sometime in our lives. Thank God for His grace and mercy. Pray about the situation and for your friend and her family and I pray that you will all be blessed by Christ for all eternity.

It does sound somewhat rude, Kathy. To leave just because of a tv program. >> Sheesh.

Thank you everyone.
I talked to my friend before & I didn't really make any mention of what happened last night. She said she doesn't have a VCR though,so she couldn't tape it.

Sure it's rude. People take friendship and family for granted so much now days. Family and friends always come before a TV show. But don't let it get to you and please forget about it or it will get between you and your friend. Isn't that what friendship is all about. Liking someone despite their flaws.

My sentiments exactly Muppets Rule!
And yeah...I'll forget about it. I was just ticked off is all. But why put a rift in a perfectly decent friendship right?

Awww babe it was pretty rude but I'm sure they didn't do it just to irritate you. Besides why would they want to, you're too fab for any of that lol

I'm really sorry about making matters worse here, but IMHO, I too think it wasn't right, but then again I don't think it was all that wrong either.:smirk: I guess that's mainly because this has happened to me before in the past too, but in my experiences, we both were looking forward to the same show, and they decided to go home a watch it.

Other than that, I sure do hope you're doing better Kathy (not Greenwood).
