"The kind response is always the best response". That's what I've always found. Although I admit it's not always easy. Matt and Trey to me are nothing but troublemakers who make already tense situations worse instead of better. I believe people can always get their message across even without being offensive. By being kind but straight to the point. Having half the audience laughing so hard that they miss the message defeats the purpose of the message itself. Humor can be a form of peer pressure aswell. Especially if everyone thinks it's funny while you don't. Like I don't always appreciate the humor in their works. My critisism is not always received well. Probably also because I don't use offensive humor to get my point across.

I read alot of messages in South Park. Probably even more than most people do. And I probably even see more in it than Matt and Trey meant for me to see. It's good to try and make others aware of the world around them. But I don't feel that Matt and Trey really know what's going on themselves half the time. They just poke at everything but do not offer any solutions really. Perhaps they are too busy making fun of everything and making lots of money with it to be able to see the bigger picture. Maybe then they'd see that what they concider to be funny is actually nothing more than offensive to others sometimes. And if someone ridicules me they'd have to appologize or they become my adversaries. It's that simple. So I'm not surprised if they get alot of adversity as a result of their actions. And I can't say I feel sorry for them either then.

For instance I recently watched the episode with Phil Collins and they made a complete fool out of him. Why? Can anyone tell me? Is he that ridiculous then? I don't think so. So they make fun of everyone and don't leave anyone out. Good for them. I don't see the point in it and I guess neither does Phil Collins. Not to mention a whole bunch of other celebs wich were ridiculed by them for no apparent reason other than their need to make fun of others in order to satisfy their own ego's. Not everything is always funny or to be made fun of. Sometimes it's actually slander and they could damage someone's reputation.

But I guess hardly anybody agrees with me anyway  nothing new there. I'll just be quiet now.

Team America: World Police also takes after some British supermarionette shows that were made in the 1970s or 1960s. I think they were brought over to America, but never did to well.

I read a book about them and I can see what else I can find if anyone is interested.

Before i start, i just wanna say that i'm politely arguing. I'm not trying to insult. (don't need to start off on this forum on the wrong foot).

Iokitek Said: It's good to try and make others aware of the world around them. But I don't feel that Matt and Trey really know what's going on themselves half the time. They just poke at everything but do not offer any solutions really.

Usually the episode ends with Stan or Kyle telling the lesson they learned. It's done in a funny, corny kind of way with piano music and all playing in the background, but none the less, it is a lesson and it often makes sense.

Iokitek Also Said: For instance I recently watched the episode with Phil Collins and they made a complete fool out of him. Why? Can anyone tell me? Is he that ridiculous then? I don't think so.

This isn't really an argument, more of an explanation. The reason they went after Phil Collins is because he won the Oscar for Best Music (Disney's Tarzan) the year they were nominated for their song "Blame Canada". If you get a chance to see the episode again, you'll notice that in one or two scenes they even draw him holding the trophy for no apparent reason.

He also, from what I've heard was very rude to them at the awards, and they had a pretty negative impression of him. I wasn't crazy about that episode, because I like Phil Collins and I thought it was pretty mean-spirited. Anyway, just wanted to give even more context.

I finally saw "Team America" last night and enjoyed myself. :excited: It's not for everybody, and if someone went in and didn't know their (Matt and Trey's) style they would probably be really confused. Overall it was a pretty good film, not perfect but it was still a pretty good film for what it was and the puppetry was excellent. But be forewarned it is most definitely not for the kiddies.

I think a lot of their celebrity targets are fair game - Streisand, Baldwin, Michael Moore etc. but I always thought the Phil Collins thing was childish ("Blame Canada" was the better song though). Phil is a really good guy and just does his thing and helps a lot of charities. He's not one of those celebrities going out trying to put his name in the paper all the time and tell everyone how to live, which seems to be Stone and Parker's big beef with most celebrities.

Phil Collins is good people.
