You have inspired me to get rid of the clutter in my workshop. I have been thinking about using a stove vent hood for my gluing space, but hadn't gotten it quite figured out how to do it. You've given me the answer. Plexiglass!

Yep. It works really well. I would love to see pictures of your worshop when you are done. I just feel so much better when things are uncluttered.

I don't know all of the ramifications of the range hood option, but I do know that some vapors can cause explosions within fan motors, which is why spray booths and the like are required to have explosion-proof motors in their fans.

I'd really hate for there to be an unfortunate accident in someone's workshop. And unfortunately it's not the type of thing that you can just "test" because you cannot predict how fumes will accumulate. It's possible to be trouble-free for months, even years, but then one day...

I think being safe should be applied to all situations of course.

But I also think that the average puppet builder using contact cement runs the same risk (if not a bigger risk) in the home with light switches or plug outlets if there is a large build up of fumes.

Let's face it if anyone here could afford a professional spray booth with an explosion proof motor, they most likely would not be building in their basment.

I personally have a greater fear for people using no vent system (just and open window, or nothing at all) and breathing in all of those fumes.

Most professional builders I know use nothing more than a fan in a window.
