ohmygodcheapnewfiguresonline.com has just released this info:

Palisades sends word that they have finally found an outlet for their eagerly awaiting Sweetums Muppets figure, we've been showing you over the past few months...

Since Palisades launched it award-winning Muppet™ action figure line two years ago, there have been certain figures that Muppet fans have repeatedly asked for. With the line-up for the 10th Series of figures now in place to round out 2004, most of these characters have either been made into figures, or are on the schedule to be immortalized in plastic. One notable exception is the gentle giant, Sweetums™.

The trouble with Sweetums – the “full body” Muppet who towered over the rest of the cast on The Muppet Show™ – was simply his size. To create him in-scale meant that he would not be able to come on a clamshell; but to create him out of scale would completely contradict the level of quality that Palisades had established with the line. Palisades began shopping the lovable monster around as an exclusive last fall, but it only recently was an appropriate retail partner found.

Palisades Toys is proud to partner with www.OHMYGODCheapNewFiguresOnline.com to bring you the Sweetums action figure. Towering over the rest of your Muppet figures at 10 ½ inches, Sweetums comes complete with multiple paint applications and 22 points of articulation – including his eyebrows and his mouth. Available this fall, Sweetums is being produced in limited qualities and is sure to sell out quickly. www.OHMYGODCheapNewFiguresOnline.com will begin taking preorders on their site shortly; check back frequently for updates.

Great I guess. I was hoping that it would be a retail exclusive.

A retail exclusive would have been nice - and certainly more accessible for many people - but the simple fact that Sweetums is being produced is wonderful for the line, and more importantly, for the fans and collectors. I feel the same way about the exclusive Animal at Killertoys and Collector's Paradise - a wide release retail exclusive would be great, but a small release with a primarily on-line exclusive is just as cool to have and just as fun to anticipate!
