....yeah.... someone's gotta tell someone that Toy Based movies suck the worst.

Details

What stupid casting too. I'd chose the Rock, myself... make it an insane comedy picture. But hey, it's a stupid idea anyway, might as well have stupid casting in it.

And the Fraggle Rock movie sits in a drawer.

I've already made too many jokes about this film to my friends yesterday, but I think the casting insures a hit. That guy could read the phonebook and people would show up. He's have me for five minutes of that. :embarrassed: ...nevermind.

Henson Co just plain has trouble with large scale projects so I don't blame other cheapy films on the failure to get FR to the screen.

And did you read the other stuff? A BATTLESHIP MOVIE?

Didn't they learn their lesson with toy lines based off of movies based off of toy lines being at deep discount clearance everywhere? It's like I see walls and walls of G.I.Joes and Transformers that will never EVER sell all at clearance prices. And they're POPULAR toys.

Even if they feel the need to make this movie, it has to be an insane, goofy comedy and the only action actor that would make the role believable is the Rock. Really. he could at least pull it off.

Now all we need is an Simon movie and announcement of Connect Four: Extreme Sneaky Sis!

When the toy lines tank it only hurts the toy companies and the stores that carry that line. The film company makes bank either way. The toy industry is hard to decipher. The Avatar regular figures are some of the crummiest movie merchandise I've ever seen, but folks seem to buy them while there are some beautiful Neca pieces for other popular properties that just sit there unsold. Both Transformers together made 1 billion 545 million dollars theatrically worldwide and Joe made 302 million dollars worldwide. The toys will always sell, but the movie-based merch bit hard.

I understand film companies forming movies around established properties, but some toys and games are just silly. The ViewMaster one has got to be the silliest. Stretch Armstrong...well, I can see it making for a popular kids film. Not one I'm excited about, but it does make marketing sense.

The only good that could come of this movie is a release of new Stretch Armstrong toys. They were the coolest when I was a kid, and would love to have one again.

As for the movie... well, the casting is simply terrible. And Armstrong always seemed to be more of a comedic character than an action hero. Kind of both.

The only way a Viewmaster movie would work is if it was some I-Max feature that showed various scenery in 3-D. That's what a Viewmaster is all about. And of course, licensed characters... but other than that, there's NOTHING to do out there.

I dunno... but somehow it seems like someone took an unproduced Plastic Man movie script and just changed names. A Plastic Man movie would make a lot more sense, since everyone's rushing to get as many Super Hero Comic Book movies out there as possible, even if they're obscure. Plus, people under the age of 30 actually know who Plastic Man is. Difference between G.I.Joe and Transformers and this movie? People know who Transformers and G.I.Joe are. Stretch hasn't had a toy on the market since, probably the Bush Sr. (or at least the first Clinton) administration. And even then, it was decades before then when he came out. This isn't something you can waltz into Target and pick up.
