Hello everyone.

In the early/mid 90s I saw a Sesame Street episode with a particulary memorable segment that had Bert sitting next to a stranger on an airplane. They realize how much they have in common especially after they discover a mutual affinity for oatmeal, and instead of ordering "the chicken or the fish" for dinner, they request "two bowls of hot water" to make oatmeal which the man (Rick Moranis, I think) always carries with him. It has of course been quite a while since I have seen this. From the research I have done, I believe this culminates in the fairly-well known song "Stick Out Your Hand and Say Hello" (see the link below):

I am thus wondering: 1) if someone could identify what episode this is from, and 2) where I might be able to find this episode (or just this segment).

Many thanks for you help!

Hi- The song actually was rerun in several episodes in the late 1990s, which increases the chances that somebody might have a copy of it. I'm hoping one of our YouTubers can help you out.

Rick Moranis also appeared in a skit as "Minnesota Shorts" (I think) playing a game of pool with Grover.

I was always wondering if this skit might encourage kids that it's okay to talk to strangers?

Hmm, well I see what you mean, but I don't think kids will then think it's OK to talk to strangers. Hopefully they do have parents who teach them well, and hopefully that's their most important role model. I think the clip is just saying that if you're in a social situation, the only way to get to know someone is to introduce yourself.
