As long as it's not like when they re did the old Star Wars films.
Ah, but see, he didn't re-do the old ones, he just made prequels. In that sense, Lynn Johnston is MUCH braver than George Lucas!

Haha! Well I meant more when George Lucas went and changed parts of the old ones, like changing music or special effects or adding Hayden Christionsen to the end of Return of the Jedi.

The best part about this do-over is that she actually said what happened to the characters after the "first run". But she's been tinkering with this 'do-over' thing for the past 3 or 4 months at least, so it's not like it's a NEW thing she's done.

Okay yeah that cheesed me off too. lol

Yeah Daniel, I think it's less of a do-over and more of her filling in the holes from the first time around. and I'm glad everyone sort of had a finished story. I really don't expect her to change things, it would be like changing history.

never be afraid of character evolution, and don't even begin to try to keep characters exactly the same from beginning to end
Heck, even the Sensational Six has aged somewhat, considering they still have their classic traits, but yet...Mickey & Minnie celebrate anniversaries now (usually to somewhere like Hawaii), Goofy and Pete are fathers (see the Goofy movies and the Goof Troop cartoon that inspired them), and Donald sporadically visited his nephews when they visited Uncle Scrooge in Ducktales & now, the nephews are teenage former band members (see House of Mouse).

You know, I'm still torn over the 'going back,' but I'm also kind of excited. I've thought about it more and the first time she told the stories was so fantastic...I had to follow the strip. It was like a soap opera for me and I needed to know what was happening to the characters. I care about them!

I'm interested to see where she takes it all next. I look forward to it.

Oh, and I think it was a nice touch that she added herself in that one strip, too.

Muley has changed design over the years (LOTS), but I don't think I ever want to age him past 6 years old. It would be weird. Character development is the art of story-telling; designs change as time goes on.

Of course, she feels aging the characters was a mistake... the opposite could be said for the Simpsons. I really think they should have aged Bart and Lisa and Maggie one year in the 20 years the show has been on... They could have a much funnier teacher character for the older of them... they could be having growing problems... The show has been inconsistantly stagnant for at least 5 years.... they could have done something with it.

*shrugs* The show (Simpsons) was meant to stay as it was for the majority of its run, sadly.
