I just heard that Stan Berenstain, one of the creators or the Berenstain Bears, has passed away. He was 82. Stan and his wife, Jan, had created all those great Berenstain Bears books for many years, starting with The Big Honey Hunt, and I thank them for sharing their talents with us.

You will be missed, Stan. :embarrassed:

Used to read their books a lot when I started working at daycares. Now my daughter loves them AND the show.
Well, Rest in Peace and thanks for the books.

I just heard that too. He and his wife wrote more than 200 books together... Incredible! I guess she's going to keep doing the books with their two sons. I'm pretty sure we had "The Great Honey Hunt" at one time. I loved those really early books.

Yes, I believe I've read almost every Berenstain Bear book ever made. And I've seen them go through changes and new characters have been added ever since The Big Honey Hunt.

It started out with just Papa Bear, Mamma Bear, and Small Bear. Then later, Sister Bear was added and Small Bear became Brother Bear. (I guess Small Bear was his nickname back then.)

Then, a bunch of supporting characters were created in the bear filled land of Bear Country. Farmer Ben, Mrs. Ben, Actual Factual Bear, Great Natural Bear, Bigpaw, Teacher Jane, Grizzly Gramps and Grandma, Cousin Freddy, Snuff the Hound Dog, Too Tall Grizzly, Mayor Honeypot, Raffish Ralph, and Weasel McGreed. And some cartoon series and specials were finally made about this wonderful book series.

Just recently, Mamma Bear had a third child. A baby girl named Honey Bear. Also Brother Bear is now dealing with preteen stuff. It just shows how long The Berenstain Bears have been going on. I salute Stan for the many books he and his family have brought out and hopefully his family will continue the legacy.

I used to collect all of his books, but around middle school I quit it, now I guess I'll have to see what I've been missing, there's a third bear cub now?

RIP, thank you for all of the wonderful books you have created

They usually have Berenstain Bears sections at Barnes and Nobles book stores. That's where I usually go to read and catch up on the Bears' adventures.

I also remember when the third baby was born. The book company held a contest where you get to give the baby a name. And the name, Honey, was chosen for the little girl cub.
