I have a question on sound effects. I am hoping to find a keyboard that can be programmed with different sounds. For example, if I push the middle c, I get a car horn. If I push the d, I get a cat meow, or what ever I decide to program it with. I believe I have seen something like this. Can anyone steer me in the right direction to find out more?

Kurzweil makes an affordable keyboard that can do that, but a top notch invetment would be the Triton models. If you want to save money, look on Craig's List for something. I believe Yamaha makes a decent one too.

What you need is a sampler and a midi keyboard. A sampler can be a physical hardware module or it can be software. I would go for a software sampler. There are many to chosose from. Some are standalone, some are plugins for VST hosts, such as cubase, logic, sonar etc...

Just do a search on google and you'll find lots. You can also read what others have to say about samplers or other instruments on for example KVR.
