You probably would get paid more if it were longer than a few seconds. If it were a few seconds though, you probably would get very little as a result.

And if you have a speaking role with more than three lines they have to pay you. This is why not many extras talk to TV shows.

I've never really noticed the extras talking before in interviews. It would make sense as they are not being payed for it or anything.
