Skeeter,

I dont think there is no problem treating it as a flaw, Everybody has them.

In these kinda cases tho, When we see something at the bottom of the screen its the Camera Man or Directors fault.

It's okay to pick something like that out; it's kind of like "Where's Waldo" in a bizarre way. Heck, I still chuckle during the "Saying Goodbye" scene of MTM when Scooter is hugging Rowlf and Fozzie goodbye, and part of Richard's sleeve is visible in the shot.

I just don't like those flaws being used as examples of what makes one puppeteer's performance or handling of a character "better" or "worse" than another puppeteers, especially since, as you pointed out Warrick, usually it's the fault of the director or camera man.

I am sentimental (almost to a fault at times). Therefore it took me a long, long, long time to get used to Steve doing Kermit's voice. In the early years I just found him too squeaky and a lot of his 'guest' appearences on talk shows and stuff seemed forced. But he's getting better - there's actually been a few times where I've heard a Kermit clip on the radio and haven't been able to tell (without looking at the credits) whether it was Jim or Steve.

Heck, most of the time for me there is no "Jim's Kermit" and "Steve's Kermit." He's just Kermit.
Same here. In fact I go a little overboard with that. I often speak of Kermit (or any of the other characters) as entities unto themselves, rather than puppets. Even looking at it that way you still can't help notice the difference between Kermit-as-voiced-by-Jim and Kermit-as-voiced-by-Steve. Kermit's voice had been so ingrained in my head, that personally, I couldn't help cringe eveytime I heard Steve doing the voice (but as I said he's almost got it now)

I agree...Steve is doing a great job with continuing the character of Kermit. It has to still be difficult to make Kermit his own because most still see it as Jim's. Yes there is a difference in voices but the character is still there. As long as you have the character and as close as the voice as possible that is all that matters. As for shots do not be too critical because then you take away from the performance and the point of the show. Just watch it because you love the muppets not because the original puppeteers are not there any longer. Yes they are missed, but as long as their character is still being done they are not truly gone, for they live on through the memory.
