So... There's Gonna be a Sequel to Happy Feet?

Yeah, and what humans the first film did have in it, you could tell that they weren't animated at all, but real people. Matter of fact, during the closing credits, there's a section for "Live Action Unit", so yeah.

I mean granted, you know, Happy Feet wasn't a favorite of mine, and it's not a movie I would watch all the time, but I have to admit, I think it was a heart-warming little movie, but that might be because to an extent I can relate to the character a bit, because I was never like the others at school, etc and whatnot, so yeah. Not to mention I like Savion Glover, he even came to my town for a show shortly after the film's release, and he was awesome.

I guess it's probably a decent film... but there are just so few of these third and fourht party CGI kid's films I either enjoy or want to see (I have to admit, I enjoyed Igor... felt the happy ending seemed disconnected.. LOVED Steve Buschemi's character).

The only CGI animated film studio I completely boycott is Sony. Their movies look labored, pointless, and just what was wrong with Dreamworks for the longest time. Loud, crass characters shouting jokes over and over with no real depth. I'm sure watching them might change my opinion... but I HATE how they look and I hate what I see in the trailers.

Sony is responsible (or irresponsible as the case may be) Open Seasons 1 and 2 (which apparently revolved around the song "Who let the Dogs out!") Surf's Up (the ripoff of Happy Feet with Surfing Penguins) and Cloudy with a Chance that We Didn't Bother Reading a 20 page Kid's Book.

The only thing that perked my interesting about that movie was that Bill Hader voiced the lead character, and he's one of my favorite SNLers... still didn't bother to see it though.

If you only see the movie, you'll wonder. I've been on this rant, but they CHANGED everything they could possibly change without keeping the loosest concept of the book. They explained things that didn't need explanation, and in such a banal way (A Mad Scientist did it. Scratch that... a NOT Mad scientist who wanted to seek his father's approval did it. A Mad Scientist would have at least been funny)... and of course, the trailer, which was littered with gag/chase scene/wisecrack/gag/chase scene/gag/pun/chase scene/wacky sidekick doing something wacky... turned me off completely.

Really, it is one of my favorite little books, right up there with the Arthur, Mr. men, and Sesame Street ones. It's par for the course to change a book when making it into a movie (Jurassic Park especially, turning the greedy profiteer into Uncle Captain Horatio Huffenpuff), but when you want to make a movie based on a book, make sure it has enough plot to fill out a half hour first.

kinda wish George Miller would skip Happy Feet 2: Electric Boogalo, and just do Mad Max 4...

This just in - there will indeed be a sequel to Happy Feet, this one centered on rabbits. The sequel will be called Hoppy Feet.

But just in case too many people complain they liked the penquins better, they're all set to go ahead with a prequel taking place in the 60s called Hippie Feet.
