<<Oh, I dont think theyd give them a 'grunge' makeover...as that in of itself is ten years obsolete.>>
Yeah, I couldn't think of the right word for it. I so couldn't care less what the current fashion trend is, I didn't even know what to call it.
<<Judging from the recent Muppetisms and Dennys commercials, I think Piggy looks better than ever. She looked rather grotesque in a lot of the late 70's(ie: See Frawleye test era Piggy)>>
Well, you're one of the few who feel that way (though you're certainly entitled to that opinion). Actually, I don't have strong feelings on the subject either way. I just thought it was ironic that who people who decried changes to Piggy's appearance seemed to be advocating a wholesale revamping of the Mayhem. (Apparently I misunderstood what people were saying, though.)
<<Yes, but thats the different between the Muppets and animated cartoons. You cant go to a convention or a set and 'meet' Mickeyt, Donald or Charlie Brown(unless its some teenaged kid in a giant suit)>>
I disagree. I think in general, people tend to look at cartoons, puppets, clay characters, CGI characters, etc. pretty much the same way. I have yet to have one person say to me, "Man, I like the Muppets, but when's that Floyd gonna get a new outfit?" (I'm talking about average people, of course, not the wonderfully obssessive group of people here that I'm proud to be a part of.)
<<rolled up sleeves, broad shouldered business suit jackets, skinny ties, mesh football jereseys, olivia newton john styled leg warmers and sweats, cutoff ac/dc shirts, etc? As much as people our age romaticize the glorious 80's, there was quite a few blistering painful fashion faux paus.>>
Well, every decade has its fashion faux paus. I'm not saying the Flock of Seagulls haircut should come back or anything.
But I prefer most of the fashions of the 80's (when guys looked like Micheal J. Fox and girls looked like Cyndi Lauper) to the fashions of the 90's (when guys looked like Kurt Kobain and girls looked like Alanis Morisette).
I'm painting in broad strokes here, folks. I know that isn't a 100% accurate picture of things. And I'm not down on anyone who likes those looks. As a child of the 80's, I just felt the need to defend my beloved decade.
Thanks for your comments, Cory!
