Do you have certian Classic SS Sketches that kind of bugs you all the time? I would think the Near and Far Sketch with Grover seems to be annoying after a while. I mean come on after he does Near and far he does it again because the Viewers don't understand. He does it over and over and over so Much that I feel like this sketch would never end. I mean I understand it, What does the Characters think we are dummies!?:attitude:

I love Sesame Street, but yes, I have to admit that there are some parts of the show that bug me. Around the 90s, there have been segments and characters that get on my nerves. Characters who were too goody-goody(ie: Natasha, Baby Bear, etc)...segments like Hero Guy, Monster Clubhouse...I was never really into most of the cartoons

Some of the sketches that bugged me were ones like of the game shows with Guy Smiley, Grover as the waiter with Fat Blue, or the Anybody People that did various skits. As a kid, they bugged me because I got bored with some of those. I'll watch them now and enjoy them, but I cared more about Bert and Ernie skits or ones with Kermit, my favorite Muppet on the show. Then again, when is he NOT anyone's favorite?

The Grover waiter skits were a very clever idea that got off track and then ran to the ground. When it first started, Grover was a sympathetic character who got the worst of it from an unreasonable customer, Fat Blue (and sometimes a couple of other muppets). I actually thought these early skits were the funniest. Then they reversed the situation and Grover became an incompetent waiter that ruined Fat Blue's order. The change was good for a while. But, then that scenario just got taken a little too far with Grover working and appearing everywhere that Fat Blue goes. They seemed to forget that Grover was classically the fall guy who was worked to exhaustion by unreasonable requests and demands from others. Turning him into some kind of devilish imp that pops up everywhere to drive Fat Blue crazy was just not in keeping with who Grover was originally supposed to be.

Okay- I was thinking it was Rowlf, but wasn't totally positive. Thanks for setting it straight!

(Of course, if I could see the entire pitch tape that would certainly refresh my memory...perhaps on a certain future classic Sesame Street DVD release...
