Another review!

Okay, here's my review of
Three Bears and a New Baby- 2003 Sesame Street video with a runtime of approximately 52 minutes

Plot breakdown-

Baby Bear gets upset when he finds out about all the changes that will come with a new baby in his family. It starts out at the Mail-It Shop where Luis gives Baby Bear a package to carry for his mom. Luis comments about the baby with Mama Bear- Gina comes up and talks about with her too- and then Telly comes up and comments to Baby Bear about all the changes that will come with a new baby. Baby Bear rushes home to talk to Papa Bear about this and Mama Bear soon shows up a bit later as all 3 discuss the new baby. Baby Bear says that he's Baby Bear and his parents assure him that his name won't change, but they'll have to find the right name for the new baby.
Papa Bear consults The Big Book of Bear Names- and reads out some names- Fuzzy, Wuzzy, and then remarks" ooh- Fozzie!!!":embarrassed:
And Baby Bear says that they're already a literary classic- The Three Bears- and a new baby would make it four. He then sings a song about not wanting another baby and his parents join in at the end, assuring him that they will still love him and the baby will be a nice new addition to the family.
As the song ends- Baby Bear's parents continue to reassure him and he gives them a hug- and then Baby Bear feels the baby kick in the womb- and now realizes that he's going to be a big brother! He has now gotten excited about the baby and picks out the toys and things the baby will need. Mama Bear then announces it's time for the baby to be born and Papa Bear and Baby Bear panic- but then remember their list of things to do. Papa goes to call Gina so that she can watch Baby Bear as he gets ready to take Mama to the hospital. Mama takes along a picture of Baby Bear to show the new baby what he looks like and Baby Bear grabs a picture of his family to remember what they looked like before the new baby came.
- The Bears pull up to 123 Sesame Street where Luis and Gina come out, along with Big Bird and Telly to greet them. Big Bird goes to tell Snuffy about the new baby, and Luis goes to tell Maria and Gabi. Gina takes Telly (who's staying with her too to be there for Baby Bear) and Baby Bear to her place.

- Live action film- Katie and Stevie await the birth of their new brother or sister at Grandma's, as Katie blows a kiss to her parents as they drive off to the hospital. I remember this one from when I was a child.

Baby Bear is frantic at Gina's as he nervously waits for news. Papa Bear calls on the phone to tell Baby Bear that they made it to the hospital okay- and that he loves him. Gina and Telly try to comfort Baby Bear with the "Porridge Eaters from Outer Space" movie! A bit later, there's another phone call and Mama Bear talks to Baby Bear to tell him that the baby probably won't be born until tomorrow.

-Animated clip of clock ticking (just a couple of seconds long)

Telly and Baby Bear excitedly await a phone call the next day and get excited when it rings, but it turns out to be Gordon asking about the new baby. Baby Bear then shows Gina the picture of his family that he was drawing. But Baby Bear didn't include the new baby in the picture because he doesn't know if it's a boy or girl yet.
The phone rings again and it turns out to be Mr. Duck asking about the new baby.
Baby Bear tries to go back to drawing as Telly nervously waits and then the phone rings again.
This time it's finally Papa Bear and he tells Baby Bear that he has a new baby sister!

Gina takes Baby Bear to see the new baby while Telly goes to tell everyone on Sesame Street the news.
Gina and Baby Bear look for the right room (finding P. Charming and S. Beauty along the way )
(A voice announces that Humpty Dumpty has multiple fractures- and a nurse directs Gina and Baby Bear to the right room in the Fairy Tale ward)

Gina waits outside as Baby Bear goes in to meet his sister- and she sees the three little pigs all bandaged up go by.
And finally, we get a view of the new baby sister. They still haven't found a name yet- but Papa got a new book of names- The Best Book of Bear Names Ever! Papa suggests "Grizzly Bear", but they don't decide on that. Baby Bear finds out what babies can and can't do as he presents his new drawing to her. And then Baby Bear gets to hold the baby. The baby had been asleep but then wakes up just as Gordon, Gina and Maria come in to see her.

They're still looking for a name so Papa suggest Yogi Bear and then Boo Boo- but they get vetoed!
Baby Bear points out that the baby's hair is curly and so the parents agree that the baby will be called Curly Bear!
Curly falls asleep again and Gordon, Gina and Maria leave.
Then she wakes up again and feels at Baby Bear's face and Baby Bear realizes that Curly's never seen anything before. Then he sings a song about everything that he'll show her.

(During the song, he passes a Honker and Dinger at Mr. Hooper's Store and Gabi and Miles playing basketball at a goal that was apparently set up off of Gina's veterninarian office.)

Then Curly starts crying and Baby Bear comforts her and rocks her back to sleep.

- Live action song- about brothers and sisters helping each other and being there for each other.

Baby Bear is showing Curly things around the room and his drawing (which now includes her) and then his parents tell him it's time to take Curly home. And they stop at Sesame Street for a few minutes to show off the new baby.
And Telly calls everyone out to see Curly and Miles, Gabi, Big Bird, a Honker and Dinger come out along with a lot of children. Baby Bear introduces everyone.

And then they take the baby home, as Baby Bear is still pointing out Hooper's Store and other things.
The next day, Baby Bear shows up on Sesame Street and tells Telly how tired he is from the baby crying and his parents giving her all their attention. (Telly and Baby Bear walk by Oscar's trash can- and he looks out from the trash can for a second and then drops back into his can.)
Baby Bear complains to Telly about how helpless Curly is and how everything is different because Curly is now being helped with everything and Baby Bear isn't.
At one point he tells Telly how he used to get tucked in before Curly.

-As Baby Bear reminisces, he and his parents sing a good night song together.

Then Baby Bear tells Telly about what happened last night and then we see all 4 bears singing a slightly different version of the song to include Curly.

By now, Curly and Telly have reached the park, and Baby Bear tells Telly the worst part of it all- his dad doesn’t have time for their special time together. But just as Telly is reassuring him that he’ll be there for him, Papa Bear shows up and tells Baby Bear that he has time for their special time together. Then Papa Bear tells Baby Bear that he has enough love for both of them- and sings a song to prove it.
And then Mama Bear and Curly show up at the park too. And Baby Bear tells Curly what they’ll do together when she’s older. And Curly grabs Baby Bear’s ear. And all of a sudden, Baby Bear really understands that he’s her big brother and everything will really be okay. Then the closing credits roll and a few scenes from the film are shown, and then Telly rejoins the Bears in the park and counts them for them to confirm that it IS the four Bears now. And then Telly and Baby Bear head off to the playground.
And an animated Elmo reminds us to visit SesameStreet.com

Concluding thoughts-
Once again, Sesame Street succeeds in what it’s trying to do- help children cope with a new baby and understand how things will change and be the same. However, don’t look to this video for a lot of classic skits or songs. There’s at least one older live action video I remember seeing on Sesame Street before but that’s about it. But the story is pretty enjoyable and would be a great video for kids who are getting a new baby brother or sister.

There have been some skits from the first two seasons on video.

As far as I know, the following skits from the first season are available:

Wanda the Witch - included on The Alphabet Game.
Bein' Green - included in Sesame Street's 25th Birthday: A Musical Celebration.
Rubber Duckie (I think this was from late in the first season, but it might be from the second season) - included in Sing Along, Sesame Street's 25th Birthday: A Musical Celebration, and Elmo in Grouchland Sing and Play.
Let's Sing a Song of Ten - included in The Street We Live On.
Letters on Street Signs (I think this is from the first season, since a license plate in this skit has September 1970 as it's expiration date) - included in Learning About Letters.

I think that the following skits were from the second season:

Ernie's doctor comes over - included in The Best of Ernie and Bert.
Mmmonster Meal - included in Learning About Letters.
Dee, Dee, Dee - included in The Alphabet Game and Do the Alphabet.
J Friends - included in Do the Alphabet.
The Question Song - included in The Alphabet Game.
Sammy the Snake - included in The Alphabet Game.
One of These Things (with Cookie Monster) - included in Play-Along Games and Songs.
Cookie Monster takes Ernie's cupcakes - included in Learning to Add & Subtract.

Also, the King of Eight, which I know is from the second season, was included in Learning About Numbers and The Great Numbers Game.

There are also a few animated skits that I suspect were from either the first or second season (I could be wrong). These skits include:

Frances Fairy - seen in learning About Letters
A Scientist invents capital letter H - seen in The Alphabet Game
The R Wizard - seen in Learning About Letters
Six Soccer Socks - seen in Learning About Numbers
O: Orange - seen in Learning About Letters

Well, yesterday I found a used copy of a video that I have been looking for for the last few years, and now, here is my review of...... (cue drumroll) Sing-Along Earth Songs!

The plot of this video involves Grover taking a group of anything muppet kids on a hike in the mountains. Grover often refers to things by names that are wrong, and the kids keep correcting him. Anyway, in the first scene, they observe a butterfly in the mountain, but Grover accidently scares it away when he slips on a banana peel. Grover says that the peel is there because somebody littered. Then Grover and the kids get to the to of the mountain, where the air is polluted. A talking hill says that he would leave if he could move. Grover and the kids then row a boat, when a fish named Smokey the Fish throws back a back that one of the kids threw away. Grover promises to find a trash can and throw the can away, and after promising this, Smokey tells grover that there are other things in the water to throw away too, and a lot of trash is thrown into the rowboat. Grover and the kids then observe plants, and see some roaring flowers (one is a wild flower, the other is a tiger lilly). Grover then sees some birds making a nest, and one of the birds takes Grover's hat, using it as a nest, and gives Grover the birds old nest as a new hat. Cookie Monster then makes a brief appearance eating cookies in the park, and after not being able to find a trash can, he is about to throw the cookie box away untill several forrest animals (including Baby Bear) convince Cookie not to throw it in the forrest, so Cookie Monster eats it. Grover and the kids then find a camp site to camp at, but then a bear takes Grovers sleeping bag.

Segments include:
Ev'ry Bit of Litter Hurts (animation with voice-over by Lillian)
Just Throw It My way (with Oscar the Grouch)
Air (with Bip Bipodotta)
Water Polution (animated song)
On My Pond (with Kermit the Frog)
Little Plant (with Ernie)
Box City Recycling Rap (live action song)
Oscar's Junk Band (with Oscar the Grouch and other grouches)
Keep the Park Clean For the Pigeons (with Bert)
The Wasteroon Song (animated song with singing waterdrops)
What a Gift (with Big Bird)

Nitpicks/thoughts:
This is a good video. However, most of the songs are from the late 1980s/ early 1990s (this video is from 1993). While Water Pollution looks like it is from the late 1970s, everything else is from later. There are a lot of skits from the early years that could have been included, such as I Love Trash, Keep On Trucking, Bye Bye Garbage, and Garbageman Blues (okay, so I don't have any idea when that last one was made). There was also a recycling song sung by a group of hippies (including one who resembles Big Jeffy) that should have been on here. There are also some later enviromental songs that could have been included, including Put it in The Trash Can (featuring a rare singign appearance by Bruno, who is completely absent from this video), Don't Waste Water, Plants Can Grow High, Down Below the Street, and Guy Smiley's Air song (which is a completely different song than the one that is included). Also, the scene with Cookie Monster could have easily been a segment on the show, since it doesn't feature Grover or the kids who hike with him, but I believe that this was produced for the video, and wasn't a stand-alone segment (most likely, Grover isn't there because Frank Oz was performing Cookie Monster, but this unrelated scene could have been a stand-alone skit).

I give this video three and a half stars.

Cool! It's nice to finally know what's on "Sing Along Earth Songs"! I'd still like to be able to see it for myself at some point. It'd probably get a bunch of points from me just for having "On My Pond"- one of my favorite Kermit songs that I remember quite well. But that's probably because Kermit's one of my favorite characters on Sesame Street!

Yeah, it's too bad Bruno didn't show up- seems like this would have been a natural place to include him. Also, I would have liked to seen the Willy Wimple cartoon songs included- I used to love those as a kid- and took heed of the message!

Anyway, thanks for the review. I have a few other Sesame Street videos at home I need to do reviews for at some point. School and work keep me busy- but I'll try to get some more up some time.

I think Water Pollution might have been a Willie Wimple cartoon song. I don't know anyhting about Willie Wimple, but the first line in Water Pollution mentions Willie Wimple, I can't remember the whole line but it's something like "Willie Winple dumped his trash in the water..." I don't know if he normally starred in his segments, so if he was usually the star then this probably wasn't one (his names just mentioned at the beginning, and no character seems to appear trhoughout the song).
