Yeah i agree with you, the size isn't bad especially when you take into account space, but the price should be at $30-$40 as you said. For $50-$60 i was expecting a much larger piece and i think a lot of other people were - thats my beef. As i said, maybe it's something to do with it being a 'limited edition' but i would think 5000 is about standard for something like this anyway. Maybe it costs tons more to sculpt this kind of matierial than action figures and playsets, or maybe they've just jacked up the price because they can - i have no idea but yeah i bet they would sell tons more at a slightly lower price point. They are lovely though on the whole, they'll make a fabulous and very cool looking collection once you've got them all together and displayed.
I couldn't believe people complained about $7.99 for an articulated action figure, especially one of Palisades quality when you compare it to Playmates stuff. In the UK we pay around $19 per figure, if i could get em for $7.99 i'd be a completist and then some !
Back talking about costs of Muppet products though - it kinda bugs me that Henson want this young hip audience to form yet a lot of the products have been at premium prices out of their reach - the fossil watches, busts, high priced DVD's produced in kid friendly pan & scan. While this stuff is nice it doesn't reach the target audience - the Palisades stuff is a good move but i really think they to sell licenses that put other high quality $15 and under Muppet products out there in the malls. The UK's pretty good because Henson seem to understand the British market MUCH better than in the USA for some reason. Here we can go into the Virgin Megastores and see all sizes of Plushes, mugs, t-shirts, the figures, posters all on one eyecatching display at the front of the store. In the U.S sounds like you guys have to go to Hot Topic for a T-shirt or notepad and can pick up a tin of sour sweets or a car air freshner if you're lucky. I guess the Muppets are still more popular and have a better image here but they need to try to emulate what they've done here, over there. Build up a large range of affordable high quality products and get them into the main mass retail outlets together so the Muppets actually have a large presence in stores - i bet if they'd done that the Palisades figures would still be in Toys R US !
