Sideshow Bust & Site Update

Sideshow Toys has redesigned their site and updated the Muppet pages. Their new look isn't very attractive and there are some broken links, but it's okay.

They have added new full pics of every series but the last one. We'll have to wait to see what they've done to the prototype Piggy, protoype Harry and we still haven't seen Teeth or Animal. But the apparently are showing glossy new photos of characters - especially Janice.

I have to admit, I am very unimpressed with Fozzie Bear. Some of them (like Janice, Statler and Waldorf) are disappointing, but Fozzie is really bad IMHO. I can't believe it received Henson's okay.

However, it appears that they have improved Link and some of the other busts are amazing. They still need to do something about Janice's ugly colored girly guitar-like thing. I'm curious what other people think. I assume that the last wave is still in prototype phase because no artist credit is provided.

I'm impressed with the Janice...but yeah, that aqua-colored guitar? What the--?

And Fozzie...looks kinda squished. Like there wasn't a puppeteer's hand (or any armature at all) inside him. Or like something I wouild sculpt. If I sculpted.

The others look good for the most part.

I just find it weird they even got Fozzie's hat wrong, but I really think those are still in prototype phase. If they just fixed Fozzie, I'd be happy, but there's something weird to me about Janice. Maybe the lack of texture and bright colored guitar make her look cartoony. But most of these are amazing!

Yep, Janice is weird. Her hair is another thing---there's too little of it.

But yeah, please, please, fix the guitar!!

Believe it or not gang, I've found that guitar. Go back and watch TMM. It's the guitar she is playing in the church when kerm and Foz first arrive. Is it ugly yes? Is it stupid/ Yes, Does it look like a watermelon? Yes. but sadly it IS one of Janice's guitars. Sad.

I think they changed fozzie! i don't think fozzie looked like that when they first showed it. it's like they ruined it! i can't remember if that hat was like that.

they changed Link too,i don't think his head was i first turned like that, but i never did like the cut off hand thing, it looks funny...rather it looks dumb....i guess it fits him;-)they should have skipped him and did Floyd instead.

Im sure there are changes to someothers maybe.

You are absolutely right. I wouldn't have guessed she had that ugly guitar. Actually it looked a lot better in the film. Not as pastel easer egg colored, but here's a snap to show proof of the weird guitar. It was a lot more funky-looking and glittery. Maybe the paint will change.

I completely agree with Fozzie. It just makes me want to send them a Fozzie figure and tell them to make him more like that. I mean, everything is off about that bust - the eye spacing, mouth width, head shape and hat. I think it's really in the formative stages because there's no artist credit for the last 4 busts.

I also agree with Link. I suppose it was someone's favorite character at Sideshow/Weta, so they bumped Floyd. Don't get me wrong, I love Link and it looks like they've really improved the sculpt. Except they really should add another arm - I think the rest have both limbs.

I have to say that Statler, Waldorf and Fozzie look pretty bad to me. I guess we're just spoiled for Palisades. However, the rest are great. Some, like Rowlf and Zoot, are absolutely amazing. I'm really looking forward to seeing the new Piggy, Animal and Teeth! How are they going to make all that hair for Animal? I'm very curious.

Sam arm doesn't look too bad though, it's just that Link has the gloves and he doesn't have one on both sides, it looks like he lost his arm in battle...link wouldn't go for that;-)

Mishap with the dissolvatron again! But the fact that there's no Strangepork bust makes a space Link kind of strange when there could have been a Floyd.

You know, when I asked Sideshow about that in a very nice email a while back, some disgrutled employee sent a rather rude response that didn't really explain anything, but said that the busts are prototypes. Didn't really answer the Floyd issue. Oh, well. It's good stuff, and they all can't be as nice and interested in fan input as Palisades.
