Should the original "Star Wars" trilogy air on ABC this holiday season?

Here's what I asked on another forum.......

Families can sit down in front of the TV set to see the "Star Wars" trilogy on ABC.....could it happen, even if it is a Special Edition? Maybe they can take the Laserdisc 2k scan of the original versions to fit HD screens?

It would make a great holiday event for Thanksgiving weekend and the Christmas season (as well as the the other holidays) (Just don't pre-empt the Peanuts holiday specials)........

Disney owns both Star Wars and ABC, so it should be a no-brainer.

Sure, why not? But they would have to negotiate like crazy with 20th Century Fox, which still owns distribution rights. It would be even better if it were the non-special edition versions, or as they should call them, the "Classic Editions". But for those, I hear Fox is standing in the way of letting those get distributed.

Of course, ABC could end up trolling us and air the Star Wars Holiday Special instead for the first time since 1978.
