i have been using a huskystar 215... the highest low-end model you can get... it's basically a husqvarna, but made in another country... i think
i haven't had any problems with it... i break needles, but only because i was using the wrong ones

i used my great-great grandma's sewing machine for the first few sewing years of my life... then i moved onto my great grandma's 1920's singer when the leather belt broke on the other one (the 20's one is electric pedal)
