Here's some interesting Muppet trivia you may not have heard (or maybe you have):
1.) Did you know Oscar the Grouch is supposedly based on a real person? According to the story I read, Jim Henson and his associate Frank Oz were dining at a bistro on day and were waited on by the most foul-tempered, grouchy, surly waiter they had ever encountered. Guess what his name was? If you said Oscar, you'd be right. And as the story goes, this guy became the inspiration for Oscar the Grouch
.
2.) Where did Bert and Ernie get their names? According to Webkinz.com, from the movie "Its a Wonderful Life" (Bert was the name of a police officer and Ernie was the name of a cab driver)
