Sesame Street's looming new format

I learned something about the current Sesame Street changing to a new format in which the letter and number of the day feature would likely be discontinued.

Looking at recaps for the German version from around 2005, it appears that the looming new format on the U.S. version may likely compare to the format on the German version in the 2000s and beyond - in which there were no letter and number segments, and a few classic Muppet segments on the German version. But don't expect to see any classic Muppet segments on the U.S. version any time soon.

I suspect that, the way things are going so far, the new format will likely start in Season 55.
