not quite...

HOLD ON!!!!

I too got 2,801, but we are all wrong!

As I was going to St. Ive's....so that is 2801 PLUS the person who is telling the story, so that is 2802 people going to St. Ive's!!

Has anybody posted that yet?

duh!

oops...sorry...guess I did that wrong...

It's been awhile since I've seen the original sketch on SS unpaved, but I think the mistake I made was the original punchline, right!

*Sheesh*

Yeah, well the idea of the original riddle was that the "I" (the boy AM in this case) met the man and seven wives, etc. by crossing in opposite directions. So the 2,801 were meant to be coming from St. Ives.

Obviously the premise has a bit of a hole in it, since they all could have met while going to St. Ives at the same time, say if they were all riding the subway or something. The No. 7 train from Sesame Street to St. Ives, no doubt.

I think all of us at MC can chalk up this thread as "most humiliating topic by a poster".

:embarrassed:

Oh I wouldn't think that. It's actually among my favorite Muppet sketches from Season 1. I couldn't exactly say why, but it just is.

LOL!!!

Anyone who can combine the classic Mexican Waiter Grover sketch and a Letter People reference in the same post gets a cookie (imported from St Ives no less).
