Huh, so I guess we are getting more than one episode of the season this year. I wonder if this'll be a regular thing, having two seasons premiere in one year. If so, that would remedy the issue some on the forum mentioned about season 49 airing during the 50th anniversary year.

Other press releases are saying weekly episodes follow the "Magical Wand Special." So, yeah, the season'll start next month and go through the Spring. If they keep this trend, we'll see the 50th season in time for the 50th anniversary.
