yeah. interesting how thatw as filmed on a cloudy day. they were trying to build a road and we baisically saw all kinds of work machines building a real road along with the kids trying to build 1 in the sand. the music that went with it was kind of neat. think it was some funny sounding keyboard that made the sound. perhaps a synthasizer, sorry if my spelled that wrong.

Were they on a playground, climbing on a jungle gym? (Not to be confused with the much later "We All Sing With the Same Voice" clip)
It's possible but my best recollection is that they were just standing on the ground outside (or playing) and the camera zooms in on the eyes.

Yeahhhh!
I think you're right that the music was done with a synthesizer.

The ever-talented Fuzzygobo (who plays music by ear) once played this for me PERFECTLY on his keyboard. He just sat down and pounded it out. I got tears in my eyes.....it was so beautiful to hear that tune after all these years. :flirt:
It's kind of odd, but every time I hear the beginning 30 seconds or so instrumental opening of Steve Miller's "Swingtown", I always think of this song. It's a loooooong stretch, but doesn't it kinda, just a weensie teensie bit sound like the music from this clip?

What you might be talking about is one of my fave fuzzy memory clips from waaaaay back when (early, early 70s), and it's funny because the main thing I remember about this clip was the camera zooming in on different eyes, including a little girl's incredibly blue eyes. During this particular point in the clip, I think they were all at a playground.

The song (and clip) that I'm thinking of is about the parts of the body. The woman sings about the parts from head to toe. This song was also sung by Susan on her "Susan Sings" LP, although she didn't sing it on the TV version.

What Are Kids Made Of?

"Our heads are gardens that grow hair
Some hair is dark and some is fair
Some is yellow, some is brown
Some stands up and some hangs down...

Your eyes are good friends I suppose
But are divided by your nose
Then comes your lips and underneath
Chewing and smiling are your teeth

Then comes a neck round like a ring
The throat in front for swallowing
The neck is long but even more so
Is the part we call the torso

Arms comes from the shoulders and
Each has an elbow, wrist and hand
Out of the hand the fingers come
First second third fourth and the thumb

Next to the last are legs and these
Bend in the middle at your knees
Last of all we find the feet
With shoes to keep them off the street

Those feet are running away
I guess I've sung enough today
(In the clip, you see the kids running down the Brooklyn Bridge, away from the camera.)

Am I close? :excited:

I liked this one a lot. It starts out with pretty instrumental music and whistling doing the "Rock-a-bye Baby" song. And then the voice part. I'm not sure if that was Joe Raposo or not. The voice was a little different in this one, but that could be because he was singing it rather gently. Whenever it came on, I would think of an uncle of mine because the voice sounded similar in this one. As a very small child of about five, I even thought it was my uncle at first! Likewise in the "There once was hand" segment. When the guy said the line, "He could not for the life of him make a noise!" it sounded a lot like the dad of a friend of mine down the street. I thought it really was him when I was about 5 or 6!
Anyway, the koala bear footage added to the appeal of this segment. I think everyone enjoys looking at koala bears and pandas.
Believe it or not, that's Carroll Spinney singing!
And yes, koala bears are cute.

Fascinating! Thanks.
And the guy in the "There once was a hand" segment was Skip Hannant from The Electric Company.

Edit: The narrator, I mean. Not sure who the hands belonged to.

2 little boys scrounging for coins

I don't remember what music (if any) went to this, but the film was live and showed 2 boys finding a coin on the sidewalk. It wasn't enough to buy anything with (with inflation and all) so they go around town, looking for more. (At one point I remember them actually fishing one out of a sewer drain through the metal grate!) In the end, they end up with enough money to buy an ice cream bar, which they walk away sharing. Remember this?

Sure do remember this one! And Sesame Mike did a thread on this and described the whole segment very impressively. And he also did an "update" for if the sketch were done today. Check it out

someone was singing a song that went like, I'm summer I'm a hummer I'm summer I'm a hummer yes indeed yes indeed.

I am SO glad that someone else remembers this song! Do you remember what is the name of this song? I can only remember the "i'm a hummer" line and the tune...It's going to bother me until I can find it!
