Well, I CAN help you out with the pilot.

The pilot was broadcast on the NET network on Monday at 10 AM on November 10, 1969.

Nixon was in office,
Neili Armstrong has just walked on the moon
we were fighting in Vietnam,
and
the Beatles were breaking up.

question: while i can believe that probably all of the so called NET stations that had SS in their line up the 1st year it was on would of naturally broadcast the episode on the same day how do we know it was shown at 10 AM? NET then and PBS now is different from the commercial networks. unlike them, each PBS station is independently owned and operated therefore they are allowed to broadcast every show when they choose to.
