This is really nothing new. Marty Robinson was doing work on Allegra's Window several years back on Nickelodeon, Kevin Clash, Alice Dinnean, etc. were working on The Puzzle Place on PBS, etc. They're freelance performers from what I understand. They get paychecks from Henson but I don't think any of them are sole employees of Sesame Workshop, and therefore are free to pursue other projects.
