Sesame Christmas Album Changes

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anybody has a list of the changes to the Sesame Street Christmas Album. I bought this on CD a couple of years ago, and it's identical to the old 8-Track we used to have when I was little except for the fact that a number of characters have been dubbed in who didn't exist back then. Elmo, Zoe, Hoots, Telly, etc. I don't think I have the ability to play my old 8-Track anymore, so I was wondering if any of you know what was replaced on the album. I'm guessing that the parts that were replaced featured characters and actors no longer on the show--this would make sense, to keep the cast contemporary for children. Anyway, if any of you know this offhand, I'd love to know!

I don't have an exact list handy of all the changes, but I'm sure we can come up with one track-by-track. You can hear all the original versions on Muppet Central Radio.

Okay, so I heard "True Blue Miracle" on MC Radio yesterday, and I noted all the changes. I wasn't sure if the version I heard was from the original album or from the TV special "Christmas Eve on Sesame Street" (or even if those versions are different), but basically the changes are that Hoots replaces Olivia during the first verse, and Elmo replaces David (and Maria) later on. I'll post again if I hear more tracks from the original album.

Here we go with another list of changes on the Sesame Street Christmas album. I was lucky enough to catch "Keep Christmas With You" on MC radio a moment ago, and it sounds like the differences between the original version and the rerelease are minimal. Hoots sings the line "When Christmas is over, save some Christmas cheer" in the new version, covering for an actor whose voice I couldn't quite recognize. Most likely Northern Calloway again, who played David (I may be wrong, though). Also, Hoots is dubbed into the "group" sections of the song.

This was followed by the end-of-album reprise of "We Wish You A Merry Christmas." Hoots, Elmo, and Zoe all seem to be dubbed into the group. Also, when Big Bird wishes "Mr. Gooper" a Merry Christmas (corrected by Mr. Hooper, of course), the line is replaced. In the new version, Elmo says "Merry Christmas, Wolfgang!" Wolfgang the seal then replies "Ork ork ork ork!"
