Does anybody know of any stores that still carry the early figures? IE: Target, Suncoast, etc.. In other words, not online. I've been looking around and watching some of these figures go for close to 50 bucks, is that normal or insane? I know there are some hardcore collectors out there, but that just seems ridiculous to me.

If you need an example, take a look at Dr. Teeth and Bunsen at Toywiz.com.

It depends, like there are a LOT of Miss Piggys out there, but not many of the others. It depends on where you are, check Toys R Us. I started collecting late too, I got some of series 2 from www.aboyd.com I think, and a series 1 Kermit for a good price on Ebay. But mostly the early series are not really out there in the stores.

If you're willing to pay a bit more, there's always comic shops.

I personally think the thrill of the hunt to find a good deal on something like this adds just that much more enjoyment to owning it. That's just me though, and I've been known to have a few scres loose and way too much free time.

Well I'm sure TRU has many series 1 Piggys, but I havn't seen the rest in stores since I bought them. A Media Play here has Lew Zealand & Scooter, but those are obviously series 3. Oh well... you can still get Crazy Harry (s2) on Amazon, but I guess that's out of your boundaries.

Yeah, I'd recommend local comic shops as well. I've seen Kermit locally, and he's still close to regular price...

-UPDATE-

Well, Christmas is over, so I know a bit more now. Suncoast has various figures and the pvc sets in now. I picked up Gonzo, Fozzie, Rizzo, Newsman and Vacation Pepe today. They also have plush stuff, but they don't carry any of the playsets. I was looking for Pigs In Space or the Swedish Kitchen set and came up short both times. Gamestop & EB Games also have the pvc sets in.

Suncoast told me to check back for the kitchen set because they should be getting another shipment in a day or two. So, things are starting to look up over here.

Oh, a clerk also made it known to me that the line is selling out almost as quick as they get them in, so I know there has to be at least one more person on this board from my area... show yourself! haha

-Edit
I forgot to mention that all of this is at the Dayton Mall.
