I tuned into Sprout today to watch SST, and was surprised to see episode 3983 ("Three Girl Monsters Who Really Love to Sing"); looks like we'll be seeing Season 33 on Sprout from now on.

I hope they include David Allen Grier's Alladin episode in the syndication package.

I hope they show the episode that had the return of the original version of I Don't Want to Live on the Moon.

I actually noticed that too, and I have to say I was pretty upset when I saw this. When the Season 33 opening came on, I just couldn't believe it. I remember when Sesame Street was in Season 33, I was very upset over the format change, but at the time, we still had the older episodes on Noggin. Now 8 years have passed, and I just can't believe Season 33 is considered to be "Old." So now there is no Sesame Street of the old format anywhere on TV at all. Life will never be the same again.

Well... when you think about it, it was inevitable.

I mean in the past few years or so, we've watched the Noggin/Sprout episodes transition from episodes from 1993 and 1994 to episodes from Season 30, then 31, then 32, so now 33.

My guess is that it probably has to do with the educational material... again, when we got our Old School DVDs, there was a disclaimer made that the Old School episodes wouldn't meet today's educational standards... since Sprout is a 24-hour educational channel, episodes and material from more current seasons would probably be more beneficial to children watching than the stuff we grew up with.

D'Snowth thanks for positing about this. It will be interesting to see if Sprout continues to air some of the earlier material or if they only air Season 33 (and newer) from this point forward.
