Searching for sketches with Frank and Stein

Without a doubt, my single most favorite muppet was the Two-Headed Monster, Frank and Stein, voiced by Jerry Nelson and Richard Hunt. That phonics loving rascal not only entertained me but taught me a lot of words. Then again, I never was very good at spelling. But they/he was funny and made me laugh when I was a toddler.

For those of you who don't remember, he/they stood in front of a purple backdrop and phonetically spelled out words with blocks of letters, followed by a demonstration of what that word meant, which is great for kids. Some skits didn't involve spelling at all, just a silly visual joke.

I seem to recall only half a dozen or so skits since he was only on the show for about 3-4 seasons during the early 80s. Now, it's been brought to my attention that there were many more!!! I think the number of appearances is closer to 30 or 40!

So, if anyone knows of any of these skits, I could use all the help I can get. Just info for now would help, a pleasant trip down memory lane with one of the slightly more obscure muppets. And I'm dying to show my neice some of them.

Yes, but the real puzzle is: which is which?

I haven't the remotest idea which one is which. Still, I remember only fragmented memories of those skits.

1) There was one in which Frank had to sleep and Stein wanted to play a trumpet. Don't remember how it ended but there was a punchline.
2) Another involved them driving a car.
3) Words they illustrated (their trademark) included SPIN, CHEESE, PENCIL, MOM, and FEET.

Can anyone elaborate on these or am I just plain confused?

They never actually illustrated the word "PENCIL." But there was a skit where they were using a pencil for various different things, but the word "PENCIL" did not appear anywhere.

I always loved the word skits they would do when the two parts of the word slowly came together, and at the end they would both exclaim the word being spelled out. I always found that funny.

That one can be found in #1576. At the end of the sketch, the one who played the trumpet lulled the other head with a lullaby--and fell asleep himself.

Hmmm. Let's see how many I can remember...

There was one where they were fighting over a newspaper, then a guy came in to read the funnies.

There was another one where Gordon showed them how to make a decision by flipping a coin

There was also one where they were making a snowman, but forgot to put the nose on.

There was also one where they were at the shoestore, but ended up buying the shoeboxes.

I'd think of more, but I'm really busy right now. I guess this is something I need to sleep on.
