The comedian Richard Jeni, a frequent guest on The Tonight Show, died today, apparently of attempted suicide. I'll always remember him as Jim Carrey's best friend in "The Mask". He was only 45.

I'm pretty sure it is, they say that there was a 911 call saying that he shot himself in the face. He was alive when they came and took him to the hospital, but he died after they got there, if I'm not mistaken. Pretty sad, he was a good comic with some good years ahead of him.

Wow. I'm honestly not familiar with him, but what a sad thing to happen. That's awful. RIP, Richard.

I'll always remember Jeni from his extremely short-lived sitcom, Platypus Man. Anyone remember this? It premiered in 1995 on the UPN, and was yanked after about four months.

I was shocked to learn of his death. I actually found out about it on a DVD site.
