It has been confirmed that one of the most beloved Sesame Street illustrators of all time has passed away last week. Michael J. Smollin, the illustrator of "The Monster at the End of This Book" and so many other projects including calendars, toys, colorforms, etc. died at the age of 85. He will be sorely missed.

Aw, that's sad. 85, though he lived a good many years. Very talented artist!

That is sad he passed away. He's now up with his partner Jon Stone in SesameWorkshop Heaven now.

I also remember his illustrations from two semi-sequels to the "Monster at the End of this Book" classic; "Would You Like to Play Hide and Seek in This Book with Lovable, Furry Old Grover?" and "Lovable Furry Old Grover's Resting Places."
