What I really liked was seeing, almost 8 months later when the joke stopped being funny the first time, an actual media reference to it on the Thanksgiving parade on the Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends parade, performed by him for realz.
Ha-ha, yes! I remember that! My brother and I were eating breakfast that morning away from the television, but it was still on so we could hear the parade so we heard the song. After it was done I remember we looked at each other and I said, "Did they just Rickroll the Macy's parade?" and my brother was like, "Yeah, I think so."

Of course, then we had to explain the whole thing to Mom...

LOL yes, I can just picture that scene all across the land, because a youtube post said a similar thing - they said they and their sibling were saying "Wow, he rickrolled us!" And then they had to explain rickroll to their mom and grandma...

That may be - I'm one of the few who isn't in love with that show But I think Rick deserves the attention, so I'm glad, since he seems glad.
I'm with ya there, man.
And though I'm not familiar with Rick Astley's other songs, I will say that I do enjoy "Never Gonna Give You Up"- it's a great '80s song! (And I love a lot of '80s music in general.)
Though I still think the Rickroll fad is pretty stupid, but it's not a big deal either. It's a fun song- I don't mind hearing it.
And when I first heard the song (before I knew who Rick Astley was and what he looked like), I seriously thought that song was by a black R&B male singer-type because that's what Rick's voice reminds me of. But that's cool- he's got a great voice.:sing:

Cool, I'm not alone, then - that makes 2 of us who don't follow Family Guy - I should make a thread just to see who joins us. But I won't, heh.

I agree, the fad itself is (or was, whatever, lol) definitely silly, even though bringing an 80's recording to the current day's culture was (or is) the cool aspect, because I also love a lot of 80's songs.

If you ever wanna check out some of Rick Astley's other songs (as long as this thread is around) I got some links in my first post in the thread.

I've heard many people thought he was a black man when they first heard him, and yes, that makes sense! And that's cool you agree he's got a great voice and you enjoy "Never Gonna Give You Up"! :wisdom:
