I know that executive changes can send some pet projects into turn-around so that the "new guy" can make a name for him/herself. But let's face it, a lot of current executives were on board with the Muppets film and those who might not have been back then are likely pretending they were now. The film's Oscar win also seals the deal. They're gonna make this. The characters are now established with modern audiences so there's a great deal of creative freedom to shape this project in many ways. It's bursting with potential.

Oscar win or not, after a big budget movie like John Carter, they're clearly going to try with smaller budget films when it comes to anything besides Marvel Comics and Pixar. Time will tell if Wreck it Ralph is going to be a success or not. Safe gambles are safe gambles. The next Muppet movie, be it a hit, a flop, or just squeaking by with modest profits is safe enough for them to go without that other guy.
