I'm not big on musicals, other than the songs Henson has brought us, but I saw the first musical I really, TRULY enjoyed both last night and the night before... Rent. It has some of the coolest songs ever, and the stories in it are just excellent. Some of the stuff isn't suitable for our younger MC members, but even if you're against certain lifestyles of people in this show, you can't help but still see the powerful meanings behind it all. It's such a wonderful movie, and now (I never thought I'd say this) I'd love to go see this on Broadway. I'm sorry to go on, but it just touched me so deeply. Maybe what really got me deep inside was that I was once in Thomas Collins' shoes...
It's without a doubt one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. The songs in it are all wonderful, and the actors all do a top-notch job. Bravo to the people apart of this... go see Rent. You'll love it.

Funny you should mention this!
I just got in from seeing it!
IT WAS AWESOME!!!!
I've lost my Rent Soundtrack CD a while back and only had memory of the songs, but oh boy, they did a great job!
And Tom Collins had an amazing voice...woooweee!
Viva La Vie Boheme!
(the part with Roger strolling through the hills of Sante Fe was very 80s rock video, but well done, nonetheless!)
I could go on, but I'll stand aside and give someone else a chance!

I loved it! I've seen the stage play 3 times and was told I wouldn't enjoy the movie as much, but I really did. In fact, I may even like it better. It's easier to follow the storyline. The issues in the movie are just as relevant today as they were when this was written. It was excellent. I want the soundtrack and the DVD!

The issues DO have the same relevance, that's true and as a matter of fact some of the less kind reviews made a point of saying that (in so many words) AIDS wasn't a big deal any more! Wierd. Sad. :sympathy:
There were many topics thrown in there that could incite great conversation or perhaps debate and that's what a good movie does...and it being a musical on top of that is pretty impressive.
