if you don't want to hear me vent, don't bother with reading this.
Let me start by saying that I had a long day yesterday. I was playing with my very young cousins and generally socializing with the family. So the whole family got home around ten last night, as well as my aunt, uncle, and cousin from Ohio who are staying with us for the weekend.
We were all tired and just wanted to go to sleep. But the neighbors were having a party and were apparently oblivious to the fact that it was late, they were shouting, and they had sleeping neighbors.
I'm finally all set to go to sleep at eleven. But the neighbors are loud enough that they might as well be standing outside my bedroom door. I can't sleep at all, and I really just want a hug. I think, well, they'll quiet down soon, their parties usually end around eleven, so it won't be long. So I go downstairs to wait it out.
My sister, who was downstairs, asked me what was wrong. I told her, and she suggested that I sleep in my other sister's room. That way I wouldn't hear the party, and when that sister came home the first sister would tell her to sleep in my room, since the party would surely be over by then. So I took her advice and went to my oldest sister's room.
You know how sometimes you just need to be in your own bed to really sleep? Well I couldn't sleep in big sister's room. so I laid there for about an hour, thinking how much I want a hug, until she came in and asked very nicely if she could have her own bed back since she had to get up early to work a double shift. She said the party was quieter and I should be able to sleep now. So I went back to my room.
Well the party wasn't really quieter at all. I could still hear a lot of what they were saying. So I went downstairs again and I took my pillows to the living room, on the other side of the house where I couldn't hear the party at all. And I REALLY wanted a hug, but everybody was sleeping and I didn't want to wake anybody up.
So I called a friend of mine who lives in California, figuring it was only ten there, and she would make me feel better. But when I called I just got her voicemail. I left a message saying that I was feeling pretty down, and I had called to vent, but since she wasn't there I would talk to her later. After I hung up I thought, why not just vent to her voicemail? It might help. So I called her again and vented to her voicemail.
That helped a lot and i probably could have fallen asleep except that by that time I was hungry. So I went into the kitchen and got a bowl of cereal, and then the phone rang. It was my friend from california, who had gotten my first message and was worried about me. (she didn't have in her cell phone which number was my house and which was my cell.) so I started telling her what had happened and my mom picked up. I told her I had it and thought she went back to sleep.
So I finished telling my friend what had happened and my mom came downstairs. She said, "Lisa? What the h*** is going on?" Now my mom usually only swears when she's joking around with her friends. I think this is the first time she's ever sworn at me. So she was pretty upset. I explained most of what had happened, and she was mad at me because the phone had woken her up. She likes her sleep. Then she went back upstairs and I heard her yelling at my sisters. My friend and I said goodbye and hung up. and I just sat on the couch crying, because there was really no reason for my mom to be yelling at my sisters, they were being so nice, and I should have really taken the bulk of the yelling.
Then my mom came back downstairs. She asked me again what was going on (with less harsh language) and I told her the rest of the story. She said that both of my sisters and I had handelled this all wrong. Then she got me a blanket to sleep on top of (because that couch is really scratchy) and another to sleep under, and told me I was sleeping there the rest of the night and I was going to like it! Then she tucked me in and told me I should start my day by apologizing to my sisters and to my dad, since she had yelled at both my sisters and my dad had been very upset at being woken up.
I laid there crying for about a half hour or so, getting up twice to blow my nose. The second time I blew my nose, the outside of my nose started bleeding for no obvious reason. I wanted to shout at my nose, didn't it know I had already caused enough trouble? But once I got it to stop bleeding, I went back and laid on the couch. Where I stayed awake for another hour and a half. I finally fell asleep a little after three. The next thing I knew, it was seven thirty and my aunt and uncle were coming up from the basement, where they had slept and heard (to my knowledge) nothing but the phone ring. I went up to my room, then took a shower and got dressed. I've been here in my room since then, honestly afraid to go downstairs because really the entire household has every right in the world to be mad at me. I think my sisters will be ok with me still. After all, from what I heard, they were defending me when mom started yelling last night. I think I heard my aunt and uncle laughing about it earlier. Or at least, that was the last thing I heard them talking about before I heard them laugh. So I really don't know what I'll be going downstairs to.
Anyway, as I've been typing this my cousin came in and told me that my mom said it was ok to come down, and that I didn't have to be afraid. i said my mom knows me too well.
So now I'm off to face my family. Thanks for reading this.
