For anyone who doesn't know, Tom was Joss Whedon's father. Joss is the guy who created "Firefly", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", co wrote "Toy Story" and he wrote the Avengers movies.
I was recently reading in a book about Joss, that because his father worked at CTW, he got to meet a lot of Sesame Street people and Muppeteers. And Joss is a big Sesame Street fan and has some very strong opinions about the Muppets.

Tom's father John also worked in TV, writing for such shows as "Leave it to Beaver", "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and "The Andy Griffith Show".

With the death of David Langston Smyrl still fresh in my mind, I initially was thinking this was the Tom that was Mr. Hooper's assistant for one season.
